Bio

Dr. Maria Pharr became the sixth president of Pitt Community College on August 13, 2025. Before coming to Pitt CC, she served as president of South Piedmont Community College for seven years. Born and raised in eastern North Carolina, she is Pitt CC’s first woman president. Prior to her time at South Piedmont CC, she served as Pitt CC’s vice president of academic affairs. Dr. Pharr received her bachelor’s degree from St. Andrews University and her master’s and doctoral degrees from East Carolina University.
