Amber Lubera, Ph.D., serves as Data and Analytics Administrator at the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research at NC State University. She primarily identifies as a quantitative researcher and data analyst who uses large scale databases, machine learning techniques and a broad array of research methodologies to understand how action becomes impact.
Lubera received her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from University of Arizona, where she focused on using randomized control trials (RCTs) and surveys to evaluate the efficacy of linguistic training interventions for students in language learning classrooms. She then went on to serve as an external evaluator at DVP-PRAXIS, providing quantitative expertise for evaluating several community college initiatives including the Teaching and Learning Hubs in North Carolina. Lubera is an expert in cleaning, shaping, and utilizing large scale administrative data from institutions, messy consumer data, raw interaction logs and national databases to draw meaningful and insightful conclusions regarding policies and practices. Finally, she is dedicated to improving data literacy and making data accessible and useful for practitioners, funders and the public.
