Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart has served as the ninth Chancellor for Austin Community College District (ACC) since 2023. Before coming to ACC, Dr. Lowery-Hart served as president of Amarillo College in Amarillo, Texas, from 2014 to 2023. Under his leadership, Amarillo College was co-awarded the 2023 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. Known for being the “love president,” Dr. Lowery-Hart delivered the 10th annual Dallas Herring Lecture in 2024 focused on leading transformational change by creating a culture of caring. Dr. Lowery-Hart received his bachelor’s from West Texas State University, his master’s from Texas Tech University, and his doctorate from Ohio University.
