Bio

Monica Clark, Ed.D., is deputy director for the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research. Prior to joining Belk, she served as director for Leadership Initiatives for the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program (CEP). Monica Clark, Ed.D., leads the Belk Center’s Leadership and Learning efforts, including the Presidents’ Academy, NCACCP Aspiring Presidents Institute, Rural College Leaders Program and Advancing Equitable Transfer. She also supports internal Belk Center strategy. At the Aspen Institute, she managed leadership development programs preparing aspiring and sitting community college presidents to lead significant improvement in outcomes for students. Prior to the Aspen Institute Monica was program director for the Council of American Overseas Research Centers, where she managed international exchanges for humanities scholars, advocated for higher education funding and administered programs and grants for a network of 24 Overseas Research Centers. In this role, she also developed international exchange programs for community college faculty. She received her B.A. in public policy from Duke University and received dual masters degrees in public administration and international relations from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
