Belk Center Releases Second Edition of the Adult Learner Guidebook
The Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research is pleased to announce the launch of the Adult Learner Guidebook, Second Edition. Following the successful release of the Adult Learner Guidebook in July 2022, this second edition will provide new insights and promising practices for community colleges to implement on their own campuses to better serve the adult learners in their communities.
Developed in partnership with the John M. Belk Endowment (JMBE), myFutureNC and the North Carolina Community College System, the second edition synthesizes lessons learned from participating North Carolina community colleges in the first three cohorts of the NC Reconnect program, and provides opportunities to learn about their work and experiences – on both urban and rural campuses – to ensure the success of all adult learners.
Within its pages, readers will discover key learnings, faculty insights, advice from NC Reconnect colleges, and personal stories and experiences from adult learners within the North Carolina Community College System. The guidebook also includes valuable resources – including innovative marketing and communications strategies and the “Five P” framework – to recruit, retain and support adult learners.
