The Finish Line Grants Symposium
It is too often that financial emergencies such as unexpected healthcare costs or car repairs prevent community college students who are on the cusp of completion from reaching that milestone. Last year, Governor Roy Cooper announced the Finish Line Grants program to help community college students complete their training when facing unforeseen financial challenges. Since the announcement, community colleges and workforce development boards have partnered to distribute more than 1,000 Finish Line Grants to help students continue making progress toward completion of their program of study.
In an effort to expand the Finish Line Grants program and ensure more students have access to this resource, the NC State University Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research, the Office of the Governor, the North Carolina Department of Commerce, and the North Carolina Community College System are excited to host the first statewide Finish Line Grants Symposium.
Symposium Objective:
This Symposium is designed to give Community College and Workforce Development Board professionals the opportunity to share strategies for effective management and implementation of the Finish Line Grants program. Additionally, this event will provide a chance to learn more about the challenges and opportunities that community college students face related to post-secondary attainment locally and nationally.
