The Community College Practice-Research-Policy Exchange
Dr. Lawrence A. Nespoli retired as President of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges (NJCCC), the statewide coordinating organization for New Jersey’s community colleges, in 2018. Upon his retirement, New Jersey’s community colleges presented him with the inaugural NJ Community College Legacy Award in recognition of the many contributions he made to NJ’s community colleges and its students while serving as president for 27 years. In addition to the Legacy Award, the NJCCC also created a new award, the Lawrence Nespoli Community College Leadership Award, which will be presented each year to a leader in the NJ community college system. Since his retirement, Dr. Nespoli serves as a faculty member in higher education and community college leadership doctorate programs at the University of Maryland Global Campus, Rutgers University, New Jersey City University and Rowan University, while also serving as a trustee at his local community college, Mercer County Community College in New Jersey.
