Belk Center Executive Director Audrey Jaeger Awarded Alumni Association Outstanding Research Award, Inducted into Research Leadership Academy
Audrey Jaeger, Ph.D., executive director of the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research and an Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor of Higher Education in the NC State College of Education, has been awarded NC State’s 2020 Alumni Association Outstanding Research Award. As a winner of the Alumni Association Outstanding Research Award, Jaeger will be inducted into the Research Leadership Academy (RLA), a group comprised of NC State’s most outstanding researchers and mentors across various fields.
Community College Leaders Address Ways to Increase Postsecondary Credential Attainment at Belk Center’s Presidents’ Academy Symposiums
The NC State College of Education’s Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research assisted community college leaders in creating action plans to improve student outcomes during two Presidents’ Academy symposiums in March. With the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak shuttering institutions since the events, the Belk Center will continue to support the action plans as they change in this new context while recognizing that the work at the symposiums fueled innovative ideas that can help colleges better serve all students.

ATD Dream 2020 Conference Presentation: Teaching and Learning
Representatives for the Belk Center will be presenting at the Dream 2020 Conference February 19 at 2:30 in National Harbor, MD. The presentation is entitled: "Building a Culture of Excellence in Teaching & Learning". Building on lessons learned from ATD's recent Teaching & Learning initiatives (OER Degree and Engaging Adjunct Faculty), presenters will cover four guiding principles for building a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.

A new law signed by Governor Roy Cooper on July 19th amends the statute which governs in-state determination for tuition at North Carolina higher education institutions. The measure comes as a response to complaints from the Community College System, which was feeling tension between its potential applicants and the mandatory Residency Determination Service online system.

The Belk Center’s first Presidents’ Academy and Statewide Leadership Conference (SLC) was held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Guilford Technical Community College’s Conference Center in Colfax, North Carolina. The conference focused on the critical role North Carolina’s community colleges and leaders play in creating a “grow our own” workforce strategy to fuel the state’s expanding high-skills economy and accelerate economic mobility for more North Carolinians.
